WELCOME TO THE DODGE NEON CD
Make sure that you are familiar with standard IBM-PC and Microsoft Windows
operations such as dragging the mouse, copying files, etc.
This information is in the manuals that accompanied your Computer and Windows software.
Since the time of printing, you can now run the DGENEON.EXE from the CD, you no
longer need to install it on your hard drive. WARNING: If you do copy the file DGENEON.EXE
to your hard drive, you must also copy the file imprimx.dll. It must be in the same
location as the DGENEON.EXE if you wish to print the specs section of this catalog.
To run the DGENEON.EXE file, open the File Manager program, switch to the D: drive,
open the PCFILES directory and double click on the DGENEON.EXE file.
Should you desire to play the audio music, on tracks 2-7, on your computer, music audio
compact disc playing software is required. You may also play tracks 2-7 in your audio
CD player. WARNING: TRACK ONE OF THE NEON CD IS THE COMPUTER DATA, DO NOT TRY
TO PLAY TRACK ONE ON YOUR AUDIO CD PLAYER!!!
REQUIREMENTS
Neon CD requires a 256-color monitor, hard disc, double-spin CD-ROM drive,
Microsoft Windows 3.1 or better, QuickTime for Windows (Quicktime is
provided on this CD -- to install, open the File Manager Program,
launch the setup.exe file in the QTWIN directory in the PCFiles directory
of the Neon CD or launch the setupenu.hlp file in the same directory for specific
installation instructions), a compatible video card and sound card (see lists below).
Do not run other applications while running DGENEON.EXE. NeonCD requires at
least 4Mb of real memory and at least a 2Mb disk cache file (virtual memory).
A larger disk cache file and more RAM will improve the NeonCDs performance.
VIDEO CARDS
NeonCD requires video software drivers and hardware that fully support
Windows 3.1 standards. The two lists below show video systems that have
been found to be compatible with NeonCD. Installing the latest available
video ROM and software is generally recommended. Contact the video card
manufacturer for information.
If the video does not play properly on your PC, try changing the prefer setting
in the QTW.INI file (which will located in the directory that contains QuickTime,
usually QTW) from DEVICE = HARDWARE to DEVICE = DRIVER. If that doesn't work,
contact your video card manufacturer for the latest video card driver that is
compatible with QuickTime for Windows.

Note 1: Driver version 1.53 sometimes hangs when playing certain Director transitions. Driver version 1.42 is recommended.
Note 2: Does not always properly display QuickTime digital video in 16 bit (thousands) and 24 bit (millions) color modes
Note 3: Does not draw extremely wide arcs properly.
Note 4: There is sometimes sound break-up or distortion during complex transitions using most sound cards.
Note 5: The cursor sometimes disappears when using a large virtual desktop.
Note 6: Video snow appears during some palette transitions
SOUND CARDS
The following sound cards are compatible with NeonCD:
Sound Card Notes and comments
Compaq Business Audio
Creative Labs SoundBlaster
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Pro
Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16
Creative Labs SoundBlaster AWE32
Gateway 2000
IBM M-Audio Driver version 1.3 - Note 1
MediaVision ProAudio Spectrum
MediaVision ProAudio Spectrum 16
MediaVision ProAudio Spectrum 16 Pro
MicroSoft SoundSystem Version 1
MicroSoft SoundSystem Version 2
Orchid SoundWave 32
Reveal Forte 16
Roland Rap-10
Note 1: IBM computers that have the M-Audio sound card should use driver
version 1.3 or higher for best results. Older versions of this driver
don't play some sounds in Director or AVI movies. The version 1.3 driver
does not pass the 16-bit sounds test for Director. Testing revealed that 8
bit sounds are corrupted when played after a 16-bit sound. At the time
these release notes were written, version 1.3 (dated 1/10/94) was the most
recent driver available from IBM.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem: Videos do not play
#1: Be sure that QuickTime is installed on your PC. Be sure that the directory that
QuickTime for Windows is in is also in the "Path" statement in your "autoexec.bat"
file. Consult the "setupenu.hlp" file in the QTWIN directory in the PCFiles
directory of this CD for specific installation instructions or launch
the "setup.exe" file in the same directory.
#2: Check to see if your video card is included in one of the above
compatibility lists. If it is not, consult the video card's manufacturer
to see if new ROMs or drivers are available to make your card compatible
with QuickTime. If your card is on one of the above lists and QuickTime is
installed on your machine, but the videos still do not play, check the list
again and make sure you are using the indicated drivers. If you have an
older driver version, contact the card's manufacturer for the current
driver that is compatible with QuickTime for Windows.
Problem: Videos play, but there is no sound
#1: Check to see if your sound card is on the above compatibility list. If
it is not, consult the card's manufacturer to see if new ROMs or drivers
are available to make your card compatible with QuickTime for Windows.
#2: Make sure that your speaker volume is turned up.
Problem: NeonCD bombs or crashes
#1: Maybe your CD-ROM is dirty. Look at the disk in a strong light for
any scratches or oily fingerprints that may be there. Try cleaning the
disk with mild soapy water, dry gently with a Kleenex (do not scratch!),
and try again.
#2: Some CD-ROM drives have trouble reading disks. The problem could be
an old version of your CD-ROM driver extension. Get a new version from
your CD-ROM dealer. Another problem is that some CD-ROM drives overheat
or misread data.
#3: If problems persist, please call 1-800-4-A-DODGE
